Dr. James Bus has had an extensive career in the field of toxicology beginning with his service as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Health (Toxicology), Department of Environmental Health with the University Cincinnati (1975-1976). Dr. Bus went on to serve as a staff scientist for the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology (1977–1986), later serving as an Associate Director of Toxicology and Director of Drug Metabolism, The Upjohn Company (1986–1989), and finally with his current positions with the The Dow Chemical Company and Adjunct Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Michigan State University from 1987–present and 1989–present respectively. Dr. Bus has served several Societies and Boards in leadership positions including The Society of Toxicology (President 1996–1997) and the American Board of Toxicology (President 1986–1987). He has been named to the boards of the U.S. EPA’s Board of Scientific Counselors (1996–2003) and the U.S. EPA Chartered Scientific Advisory Board (2003–present). Dr. Bus is proud to have served the NAS/NRC Board on Environmental Sciences and Technology (BEST) from 2005 to present as well as U.S. FDA NCTR Science Advisory Board (2006–present) and both the NIEHS/NTP Board of Scientific Counselors, Technical Reviews Committee (1997–20009), and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, Threshold Limit Values Committee from 1993 to 2002.
